Helen Lyons Laird

Helen Lyons Laird was born to Eternal life on August 7, 2024, at Azalealand Skilled Nursing Facility in Savannah, GA.

Helen was a 1944 graduate of Mount Saint Joseph High School in Augusta. During World War II, she worked at Fort Gordon-Augusta. Helen met Robert M. Helen was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and wife who prioritized family and faith her entire life. She was a faithful communicant of St. James Catholic Church for 63 years. Her volunteer work was very important to her, as evidenced by the charitable work she did with many organizations over the years.

Helen is predeceased by her husband, Donald; brothers, Billy and Alfred Lyons; sister-in-law, Carolyn Lyons; and brothers-in-law, Ed Welch and Phil Jardina.

She is survived by her daughter, Helen Moses (Tom); sons, Robert M. Laird, Jr. (Dede) and Michael J. Laird (Diane); grandchildren, Katie Brown (Jay Whittle), Kevin Laird (Dana), Sarah Moses, and Dylan Moses; as well as ten great-grandchildren.

Helen is also survived by her two sisters, Marguerite Welch, and Angela Jardina; and two brothers, Bernard Lyons and Matthew Lyons, CSC.

A Rosary service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Visitation will follow from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at St. James the Less Catholic Church with The Very Reverend Daniel F. Firmin celebrating.
